If you’re in pain and can’t eat or drink, or even go about your other normal activities, then you need to see an emergency dentist in Atlanta. But due to the COVID-19 crisis, most dentists are only allowed to operate under certain restrictions at this time. Essentially, we can provide urgent and emergency care but not routine visits like cleanings or small fillings. So, what should you do?
First, Get a Good Look at Your Tooth
Look in the mirror or have a family member use a flashlight to get a good look at your tooth to see what’s going on. Are there visibly broken areas? Is there swelling, bleeding, or drainage from an abscess? Be sure to clean around the tooth with floss to make sure there’s nothing stuck under the gums or between your teeth.
Treat Minor Symptoms
Rinse with warm salt water to help with swelling, then take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory such as Motrin (ibuprofen) to see if it eases the pain.
Call Our Atlanta Emergency Dentist
Once you have a general idea of what’s going on with your tooth, call Aesthetic & Implant Center of Atlanta. If we don’t immediately answer your call (due to our atypical COVID-19 operating hours) be sure to leave a message and someone will get back with you as quickly as possible.
During our phone conversation, we’ll discuss your findings, symptoms, and the level of pain you’re experiencing. Depending on what’s going on, we can arrange to see you for same-day treatment if it qualifies as a dental emergency.
If you’re in pain and need to speak to an Atlanta dentist, we encourage you to give us a call!
